Spatial Distance To Fault
Transpower required quick, accurate, fault location data for their 11,803 km of high voltage lines. Fault location data was required to be sent in near real-time to their ESRI geospatial system.
Dimension Software designed and implemented a PI software solution to calculate complex fault locations based on live SCADA feeds and impedance data stored within Transpower's Oracle databases.
Data is sent to the ESRI Geo Event Processor where it is spatially enriched and displayed along side weather and lightning data. The spatial components were developed by e-Spatial.
Grid control room staff have moved from clunky spreadsheets to a modern decision support tool that presents relevant information that helps users make the right decision, in the right time to help keep the lights on.
Gas Meter Data Management
Vector Gas required a system to better manage their transmission and wholesale gas metering data. This included many TOU and non TOU meters, flow computers, gas chromatographs and manual readings.
Dimension Software designed and developed a PI based solution to process, calculate, distribute and present meter data.
The system leverages multiple aspects of the OSIsoft PI system including the PI 2010, PI Asset Framework, PI SDK, AF SDK, ACE and much more.
This system resulted in efficiency gains, elimination of spreadsheets, process formalization and improved data accuracy. This allowed Vector to focus on getting accurate data to the right people at the right time.
A New Zealand based electricity distribution company had data telemetry problems causing issues with subsequent reporting. This included data gaps (comms failures), spikes (switching noise), false zero's (resets) and more.
They required a system to cleanse the raw telemetered PI data into validated, clean data streams that they could rely on. They turned to Dimension Software to provide a solution.
Dimension Software designed and developed a PI system solution to cleanse incoming data and store it into validated tags. False spikes, gaps and flatlines were detected via algorithms and removed.
Reporting provided SCADA engineers with the information they needed to be able to prioritise their remediation works.
Gold Mine Lab Data Integration
OceanaGold required improved correlation of process data versus official lab data. In addition incoming grades of ore and outgoing concentrate needed to be better recorded for improved plant management.
Dimension Software designed and developed several applications to integrate with the CCLAS lab system along with the front end loader LoadRite systems and truck weighbridge systems.
This system improved situational awareness and ability to correlate plant and raw material changes with the resulting concentrate being shipped out.
PI TO SAP INTEGRATION
The OSIsoft PI system is used at all of Contact Energy's New Zealand power generation sites. Dimension Software was called on to design and develop a solution that would send aggregated PI data to SAP PI.
The solution called for an engine to send scheduled and event based messages to SAP using ACE, AF, web services and PI Notifications.
A browser based WPF user interface provided non PI users the ability to create tasks that link PI with SAP. From here users can create totaliser tags without having to understand the complex totaliser syntax.
